”Chakou-kai”（茶好会）

VI Matcha Society “Chakou-kai” is a Club to introduce Matcha culture to Canadians. We offer some program experiences and teach enjoyment of The Way of Tea for beginners.

We are based in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, BC in Canada.

Local people in Nanaimo began to enjoy The Way of Tea, in 2017. The Way of Tea is an iconic part of Japanese culture. We opened a Japanese style tea room in Nanaimo as a place of intercultural experience for Canadians wanting to participate in a form of Japanese culture for the beginners.

Chakou-kai aims to help you to enjoy experiencing the Way of Tea and create a peaceful interlude in your busy daily life.

We hope many people will have a chance to experience the Way of Tea and to learn the ideas of ”Sen Rikyu,” a famous tea master, who believed we should respect and appreciate each other.

Chakou-kai offers some special experience sessions and programs to teach you the basics of the Way of Tea: manners, etiquette, and the basic services that are called "Bonryaku temae（盆略点前)” and "Hakobi temae（運び点前）"
